The Blickle Institute for Interfaith Dialogue

The Blickle Institute for Interfaith Dialogue was created through the vision of Karl-Hermann Blickle, of blessed memory, who truly believed in the power of a peace-loving society based on respect, dialogue, and understanding. The purpose of the Blickle Institute is to disseminate groundbreaking ideas and thus inspire Israeli Jewish religious leadership, education institutions, and broader society to embrace a new language and ways of thought regarding other religions. This is achieved by an annual fellowship program including 12-15 carefully selected rabbis/rabbaniot, educators, and public leaders who undergo an intensive year-long training and learning program.

The Blickle Fellowship program covers the foundations of the Jewish perspective on other religions as well as the basics of Christianity and Islam (including two field trips). With over 60 graduates from four cycles, we also build the program's alumni network. This network proffers the Ohr Torah Interfaith Center two unique assets: expanding and deepening its influence on internal Jewish discourse; and increasing its capacity to engage in interfaith work by deploying well-trained thought leaders.

In November 2024, the Ohr Torah Interfaith Center will launch its international fellowship program, which will be a home and professional network for rabbis, educators, and communal leaders who wish to act in accordance with the Center’s vision and goals. The program will offer various opportunities for deep learning and meaningful interfaith activities, such as meetings with religious figures in Israel and around the world, lectures, writing and publishing articles on the subject, and developing educational programs.
